What is Yasurime(鑢目)?

  • Yasurime is the file-mark on the NAKAGO(). Every swordsmith and sword school had its own Yasurime pattern.

Types of Yasurime

  • Sujikai(筋違) : Slanting pattern.
  • O-Sujikai(大筋違) : Greater slanting pattern.
  • Katte-Sagari or Agari(勝手下がり/勝手上がり) : Little slanting pattern.
  • Kata-Sujikai(片筋違) : Half straight and half slanting pattern.
  • Kesho(化粧) : Geometric pattern. Commonly seen in SHINTO(新刀).
  • Kiri(切) : Straight pattern.
  • Takanoha(鷹の羽) : Eagle feather pattern.
  • Gyaku-Takanoha(逆鷹の羽) :  Reversed eagle feather pattern.
