UDA SCHOOL(宇多派) was a Japanese sword school founded by Kunimitsu(国光) in Ecchu.

Famous Swordsmiths from the school
Shape: High SHINOGI-SUJI(鎬筋), IORI-MUNE(庵棟), Shallow Sori was common in their works before the Muromachi period, and Saki-Sori(先反り) is common after the period.
Hada : Blackish, MOKUME-HADA(杢目肌) blended with MASAME-HADA(柾目肌),
Hamon : NIE-DEKI(沸出来), NOTARE(のたれ), GUNOME(互の目).
Boshi : KO-MARU(小丸),HAKIKAKE(掃掛け).
- The founder Kunimitsu moved to Ecchu province from the Uda area of Yamato province so that the Uda school’s swords show some characteristics of both the YAMATO Tradition(大和伝) and the Ecchu province swords.
- The school’s old works from the Kamakura to Nanbokucho period are referred to as Ko Uda(古宇多).
