Shape of Sword : Edo Period Genroku Era

genroku japanese sword

What influenced the change in the shape of sword made in the Edo period, Kanbun Era? (1688-1704)

Like the previous Kanbun era, the Genroku era was a very peaceful period in Japanese history, as a result the swords produced that period were, so to speak, of no practical use and symbolic only. Samurai basically wore their swords as a fashion accessory and in order to meet such demand the swordsmiths of the time made a good-looking sword that have a deep Sori and a flamboyant Hamon.
