  • Generally, the sword schools on the Kyushu island were influenced a lot by the YAMATO Tradition(大和伝), and like other schools there, the Samonji school also produced Yamato tradition style swords at first. However, a swordsmith Genkei who is considered to have been an apprentice of Masamune(正宗), incorporated some techniques from Soshu Tradition(相州伝) and from the Nanbokucho period, the school started producing the Soshu tradition style swords.
