Notes


  • The Kongobyoei school is considered to have made the swords for the worrier monks of the Shingon Buddhist temple near Mt. Honmanzan(宝満山).
  • Their swords have a Sotoba-Nakago, which resembles a Japanese wooden grave tablet called Sotoba(卒塔婆). The Nakago is believed to be designed in this way in order to let the enemy’s soul rest in peace.
